Anxiety is prevalent in everyone, but chronic stress can affect the quality of your life. Like any other behavioural change, it can have consequences on your physical health.

It is very typical and a part of our life. We feel anxiety when we sit in a job interview. It can increase your heart and breathing rate, blood flow to the brain, etc. It prepares your body for an intense situation. However, when it gets so severe, it can cause nausea. Or you can say that an excessive state of anxiety can affect your mental and physical health.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), anxiety disorder is more common in women than men. If your life is full of stress, then you have a high risk of this disorder. The symptoms can take a year or can show immediately. If you have a medical condition, then it can also lead to anxiety disorder.

Types of Anxiety Disorder

There are several types, including:

GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder)

GAD refers to a disorder without any logical reason. According to ADAA estimates, it is affecting about 6.8 million American adults a year. It happens when you are in constant worry about a variety of things. If you have a typical case, then you will be able to do your daily activities. But in severe cases, it can severely impact your life.

Social Anxiety Disorder

One of my friends, who lived in Saskatoon, Canada, had this disorder. It involves a feeling of social situations. One day, he was searching for an appliance repair expert in Saskatoon. But do not want to go outside because he had no confidence to talk with people. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand an adult having this severe social phobia.

ADAA also notes that about 15 million American adults are living with this disorder. Most of the people facing anxiety disorder wait for a decade to get any help.

PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder)

This type of disorder develops in a person after experiencing something traumatic. The symptoms can take some time to show or can begin immediately. Common causes of this phobia are natural disasters, physical attack, or war.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

People with this type of anxiety disorder are overwhelming with the desire to perform certain compulsions. They filled with unwanted thoughts that can be obsessive.

Panic Disorder

In this anxiety disorder type, a person has panic attacks, spontaneous feelings of impending doom, terror, or anxiety. Common symptoms are shortness of breath, chest pain, and heart palpitations.

Central Nervous System

A person with a long-term anxiety disorder has an increased frequency of symptoms like dizziness, headaches, and depression. Whenever someone feels stress or gets anxious, the brain flood the nervous system with hormones. These hormones help in responding to a threat. But long-term exposure to such hormones is not suitable for physical health. It can result in weight gain and panic attacks. Moreover, it affects mental health.
